KICKBOXING
Kickboxing, is a very popular martial art it has been suggested that
Kickboxing have origins dating back to Thailand and the art of
Thai-boxing? Although there are similarities, Kickboxing actually
came to be formed in the mid-1970s, and developed from Karate.
Kickboxing has gained popularity over the years, to become
a very popular martial art, it has started to attract widespread
appeal with Sky Sports regularly broadcasting tournaments and world
title fights.
There are no forms, patterns, sets, or Kata's as in most
martial arts.
Many members enjoy the Kickboxing training; it greatly
improves the member's Cardio-vascular fitness level, muscle tone,
flexibility, and confidence.
It is not everyone's ambition nor inclination to participate
in tournaments, but reassuring to know that through training with
UKCK you can achieve the same fitness level and skill level as a
tournament competitor, should you so wish.
We would also like to reassure potential members we do not
as many people pre-conceive, kick and punch one-another
in regular class training. There are sparring classes available
for the members that wish to train specifically in that area.
You work on a personal progression program to reach your own desired
goals.
The purpose of UKCK Kickboxing clubs, is to help each and
every member to become competent martial artists and to reach there
maximum potential, to become the best martial artist that they can
be and reach their own desired goals.

KICKBOXING TRAINING
The training is constant repetitious work, aiming to perfect
the moves that are taught as part of our UKCK syllabus. We
also teach moves that are incorporated from many styles
and arts, which may be useful in a self-defence situation
should the need arise.
Although UKCK have a comprehensive syllabus to work
from, certain moves taught and explained, as self-defence
moves would not be allowed in certain competitions, should
this be the member's desire, to compete. This is fully
explained within the class teachings, but necessary to
incorporate these moves as it greatly benefits the students
understanding of the martial art they are learning.
The training incorporates the use of pad-work, and a
working partner relationship, it also enables a great
opportunity to meet and make new friends. Upon joining,
wear something loose, you don't have to be fit, it is our
goal
to help and assist you through all parts of your training.
Kickboxing, as in most martial arts, has so many benefits to
offer. The more dedication, time and effort you can input,
the
more understanding and benefits you will receive.
There are great opportunities for personal progression;
there
are grade/exams every three months. We would recommend
that members do grade, as these short-term goals, lead
onto long term objectives and achievements. It is very
important to have goals to aim for when doing any kind of
martial art, i.e. it measures your own development, and can
greatly help when, as we all do at times feel stagnant or
fed
up. The grade exams can help to keep you focussed with
targets to aim for, I have seen many members over the
years, and the ones that don't grade normally don't last the
distance. So it is very beneficial and rewarding to grade.
UKCK have members from all walks of life, age, gender, and
fitness ability. All you have to do, to change your life
forever,
is come along!
